Joyous Saturday

The collection Joyous Saturday was created in creative and productive collaboration with Leonardo Linares, grandson of Pedro Linares who invented the alebrijes and who created several of the most emblematic cardboard Judas in Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera's collection. Don Leonardo is one of the most recognized cardboard artisans in Mexico and alongside him we have created an artistic tour of this trade with the Judas created by his grandfather for Frida and Diego as an underlying element.

Cardboard and paper work is of great interest for the brand because of how it changes season to season. During Easter, Judas are made and burned on Holy or Joyous Saturday or Sábado de Gloria. Then in September, papel picado is made to celebrate Mexico's independence. November comes with the calaca and catrinas for the Day of the Dead. Piñatas, masks for the nativity scenes and cardboard toys are made for December holidays. And all throughout the year pyrotechnics for patron celebrations. All of this is portrayed in our collection Joyous Saturday.
