The embroideries of Santa Martha are subtle and beautiful abstractions of its surroundings.They are based on Mayan symbology, where the geometric representation acquires almost divine dimensions; the whole world, for example, is conceived as a rhombus, where each corner represents one of the cardinal points.
Visions of the duality of nature appear in the squares, rectangles and triangles, where each figure is divided by a line of interwoven threads to represent day and night, life and death, heaven and Earth.
