Tzotzil Pompons and Emboidery Workshop
Taught by Juana López (San Juan Chamula, Chiapas) and Itzel León (CDMX)
The textiles of San Juan Chamula are a reflection of the dreams and thoughts of its inhabitants. In this community, most of the women know how to spin sheep wool, weave on a waist loom, embroider, brocade when making a garment and apply pompoms, representing their interaction with nature and its worldview.
During this workshop Juana López, a Tzotzil artisan, will teach participants the meaning of the symbols and motifs used in the textiles of this community since 2,000 years ago, inherited through generations, and will be able to experience the different materials and techniques that are used to give life to their clothing.
Running Time: 4 hours
Includes: materials and brunch

Colors, Textures & Pre-Order
Our products are made in creative and productive collaboration with Mexican artisans. Their elaboration involves manual processes that generate variations in colors and textures. It is important to note that the actual color of the garment may vary from the color shown on the screen.
For products or variants that are available only on request (pre-order) we ask that 3 to 4 weeks of production be considered, in addition to the shipping time.
