Wixárika Workshop
Taught by Julia Yude (Jalisco del Refugio, Jalisco) and Itzel León (CDMX)
The Wixárika people live in the Sierra Madre Occidental, their ancestral land. It is a wide geographical space that is located in the states of Jalisco, Nayarit and Durango. Wixárika means "person with a deep heart who loves knowledge" and, according to their beliefs, we all share the same world, where everything and everyone is strongly connected through links that unite us all.
Traditionally, they use materials such as wax, beads, woold and cotton to capture their way of seeing the world and their environment throught theire creations.
During this workshop, participants will learn how to apply beads on a piece of clay with Wixárika's traditional technique. They will also discover the symbolism and meaning of the Wixárika people, understanding how each of the figures is being built and thus discovering the manual and visual ability of each participant.
Running Time: 4 hours

Colors, Textures & Pre-Order
Our products are made in creative and productive collaboration with Mexican artisans. Their elaboration involves manual processes that generate variations in colors and textures. It is important to note that the actual color of the garment may vary from the color shown on the screen.
For products or variants that are available only on request (pre-order) we ask that 3 to 4 weeks of production be considered, in addition to the shipping time.
